BIG WEEKS AHEAD…

Remember that New York is at its annual September gridlock- from The US Open Tennis Championships to Fashion Week to the General Assembly meeting at the United Nations to Climate Week. Forget about ever finding a taxi or a hotel room in the Big Apple this month! (Or “fuhgeddaboudit” in the local vernacular.) Plus, Bethpage— just a few train stops from Manhattan– is host to this year’s the Ryder Cup Golf Championship between the US and Europe from September 23-28.

DMEXCO, Europe’s leading digital marketing and tech event, returns to Cologne this September 17 -18. Germany celebrates Oktoberfest in Munich again at Bavaria’s Theresienwiese beginning September 20. If you plan to attend the 190th Festival, you have until October 5th to sample the Märzen and Festbier lagers.

SXSW goes to Sydney, Australia (October 13-19) to bring together professionals from business, tech, government, health, marketing, creative industries and more for seven days of ideas, innovation and inspiration.

The ANA‘s flagship event, Masters of Marketing, returns to Orlando from October 21-24 as both an in-person and virtual event. Masters is where marketing visionaries and leaders converge to shape the industry’s future. This year’s theme is Powering the Industry Agenda. Speakers include top marketers from Procter & Gamble, LVMH, PepsiCo, Kraft Heinz, United Airlines, General Motors, Adobe and many others.

The Advertising Week series will tour two continents in the next two months: AWNY, short for Advertising Week New York, will run from October 6-9 in The Penn District, while Advertising Week Latin America (AWLATAM) returns to Mexico City and its terrific Papalote Museo del Niño from November 4-6. Plus, London‘s on deck again to host Advertising Week Europe in March 2026.

  • SEIZE THE OPPORTUNITY: MAKE MORE OF MARKETING (Festival of Marketing UK)

QUICK HOLIDAY QUIZ!

Which three countries will celebrate Thanksgiving in the coming months?

Canada, the United States, and Japan.

Thanksgiving Day, or Jour de l’Action de grâce in French-speaking Canada, is an annual Canadian holiday held on the second Monday of October, or October 13 this year. The celebration and sentiments of thankfulness and bounty at the harvest are similar to those of its American Thanksgiving cousin. However, the “Black Friday” sales—even in Canada—are held the day after US Thanksgiving, November 28, following “Turkey Day” (south of the border) on November 27.

In Japan, Labor Thanksgiving (Sunday, November 23- celebrated Monday, November 24) is a more literal celebration of thanksgiving to workers, with gifts and thank you letters given to staff members and teams. Labor Thanksgiving Day (Kinro Kansha no Hi in Japanese) is a modern name for an ancient ritual called Niinamesai (Harvest Festival).
